Our Journey So Far

In 2022, after an uncertain few months and a great deal of hard work, the community successfully purchased the former Methodist Chapel, securing its future for generations to come. What had served as an informal village hall for more than 80 years was saved from being lost and became Kingsley Holt Centre – owned by the community, for the community.

Since taking ownership, we have worked tirelessly to bring the building back to life. Although our long-term vision is to fully renovate and modernise the Centre, we made the decision to open it in its current condition so it could once again become a place for local people to meet, learn and socialise.

Over the past three years, the Centre has grown into a thriving community hub, hosting regular events and activities including our weekly Community Café, Baby & Toddler Group, craft workshops, quizzes, choirs, fitness classes, wellbeing sessions, energy advice, NHS and police drop-ins, fundraising events and much more. Thousands of people have walked through our doors, helping to prove that this building remains an important asset to the village.

Behind the scenes, we have secured planning permission and building regulations approval for the renovation project, successfully obtained grants to carry out essential improvements, and continued to invest in maintaining and improving the building. Every improvement has been made possible through the dedication of our volunteers and the incredible support of the local community.

Our vision remains the same: to create a sustainable, fully accessible community hub with a community shop, café and flexible spaces that can be used by everyone. Any profits generated will always be reinvested into the Centre and the wider community, ensuring this valuable asset continues to benefit local people for many years to come.

We would like to thank everyone who has supported the Centre since the very beginning—our shareholders, volunteers, funders, local businesses and everyone who has attended events, donated, fundraised or simply encouraged us along the way. Your support has made everything we have achieved possible.

The journey isn’t over yet, but together we have already transformed an empty building into the heart of our community, and with your continued support, the best is still to come.
